When Clarence Elvin Annis was born on October 1, 1894, in Fillmore, Minnesota, his father, Edwin, was 33 and his mother, Estella, was 34. He had three brothers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company I, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 18, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France.
