When William Boyd Dunn was born on July 24, 1895, in Calloway, Kentucky, his father, Hiram, was 37 and his mother, Nancy, was 31. He had two brothers and two sisters. He entered the military service in Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company K, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 18, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as PVT W D DUNN.
