When Thomas Coleman Cronan was born on November 10, 1893, in Georgia, his father, Jasper, was 26 and his mother, Julia, was 20. He had four brothers and two sisters. After receiving military training in local camps, Corporal Cronan was attached to Machine Gun Company, 18th Infantry, with which unit he embarked for overseas service. Corporal Cronan served in a number of important battles and was killed in action in France, July 18, 1918 (at the age of 24) and is now buried in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Covington, Newton County, Georgia, USA. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as Croman.
