When William A. Delozier was born on December 23, 1897, in Pennsylvania, his father, Joseph, was 35 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 30. He had five brothers and four sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company F, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on July 22, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as Delozzier.
