Tengchong Cemetery

Description:

The site includes three memorials: markers of American Soldiers - Merrill's Marauders, and other special units- who died during the Battle of Tengchong; the makers lie among the several thousand Chinese soldiers in the cemetery who also died in the battle in 1944 during the Second World War. The site also includes statues to two key American leaders; and a wall remembering he "Flying Tigers".

The site is located in the Chinese city of Tengchong. Tengchong is a county-level city of Baoshan City, western Yunnan province, People's Republic of China. It is well known for its volcanic activity. T he site is located just south the city airport across the Daying River.
