The site is located in the small town of Timau (of Paluzza) located on the main road, SS 52, 10 kilometers from the Monte Croce Carnico Pass crossing into Austria. Timau is located in the Carnia area of the region of Friuli Venezia Guilia in the Valley of the Alto But. Timau is 25 kilometers north of the city of Tolmezzo and 75 kilometer north of the provincial capital of Udine.
