Wiltz – Castle (Château de Wiltz)

Description:

The site includes three memorials: One to the 28th Infantry Division which liberated the city and defended it during the Battle of Bulge; one to General Dwight D Eisenhower; and the last to a soldier of the 28th Infantry Division who brought the tradition of St. Nick back to Wiltz in December 1944.

The site is located near the Wiltz Castle (Châteaa). Wiltz (Luxembourgish: Wolz, pronounced [ˈvolts]) is a commune with town status in north-western Luxembourg, capital of the canton Wiltz. Wiltz is situated on the banks of the river Wiltz. It was also a battleground in the Battle of the Bulge, near the end of World War II. Wiltz Castle (French: Château de Wiltz, German: Schloss Wiltz Luxembourgish: Schlass Wolz), located in Wiltz in the north of Luxembourg, dates back to 1573. It is now known above all for hosting an annual music festival. Part of the castle now serves as the campus of United Business Institutes. The site is located on the road curve immediately outside the Castle entrance.
