The church is situated about 1.1 km southeast of the town hall. The chapel is perched on top of the "Butte de Mont-Michel." This site is historically significant, as it played a role during World War II, particularly during the Battle of Mortain in August 1944. The chapel and the hill it stands on were strategic points during the battle, with American forces using the location as a defensive stronghold against German counterattacks. Today, the Petite Chapelle Saint Michel is a place of reflection and remembrance, attracting visitors for both its historical significance and its breathtaking views. The site is accessible by a hiking path that winds through the forested slopes of the hill.
