Description:

The site has one memorial remembering a combined British Commonwealth, Italian, and American Airborne Operation, code Named Operation Herring which occurring in April 1945, the last Airborne operation in the European theater during the war.

The site is located in the hamlet of Dragoncello which is within the community of Poggio Rusco in the region of Lombardy, province of Mantova (Mantua). The site is located between the towns of Poggio Rusco and Sermide (where the Po River WWII Museum is located). The site is just outside the hamlet of Dragoncello in an open area just off the road near the intersection of SS496 and Via Dosso. The site is about 50 kilometers west of the city of Ferrara.
