The site includes one memorial remembering a Czech-American Soldier, PFC Charley Havlat, who is considered the last US Soldier killed in action in the European Theater on May 7, 1945, in the present day Czech Republic.

The site is located along a road outside of the town of Volary. Volary (German: Wallern) is a town in the South Bohemian Region (Jihočeský kraj) of the Czech Republic. It is located in the Bohemian Forest, in the Šumava Mountains, close to the border with Germany. The site is on the road from Volary to Lenora on a roadside area about 3 kilometers west from Volary town center.
