On the grounds of the church, a memorial is set which commemorates the crash of a B17 Flying Fortress from the 100th Bomb Group and two P47 Thunderbolts from the American 5th Emergency Squadron.

The Church of St Mary in Ashby is in an isolated position about 1⁄2 mile (800 m) down a track, south of the hamlet. The access track to the church is in between the Blocka Road and Market Lane intersection and Blocka Road, Browston Lane, and Border Lane intersection.
