The site includes one memorial remembering the “Hellships” or Prisoner of War (POW) Transport ships and those Allied Prisoners of War who suffered on them in World War 2.

The site is located on the southwest coast of Taiwan on the coastal Island of Chijin, outside Kaohsiung City. The Taiwan Hellships Memorial is located in the War and Peace Memorial Park on Chijin Island. The location of the memorial park is north of Chijin Windmill.
