Description:

On the site is a stele in memory of Captain Wilbur Eugene Skinner, an American aviator who was killed when his aircraft crashed in the area during World War II.

Address:

, 68290 , Sewen , 68-Haut-Rhin , Grant Est , France

Starting from Sewen, leave the church on your right and follow the red cross signs that will take you to the farm inn. This is a difficult walk with an altitude difference of more than 500m with a high percentage of climb. At the thatch, beware of the herd of Salers with their calves. Salers are very protective of their calves. There is gentler access to find the stele. Following the D465 from Giromagny, a few kilometers before the summit, take the D59 junction leading to the ski slopes area called "gentiane". Park at the end of the road (cul de sac). Follow the gently uphill path that follows (left) in an obvious way the gentian ski slope for 1.5 km. The stele is visible on the left of the track.
