Inside the cemetery is the isolated burial of Pilot Officer Alexander Carruthers, an American aviator who served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II.

Chalons-en-Champagne is the chief town in the Department of the Marne. The cemetery lies on the east side of the town approximately 1.5 kilometers east of the railway station. The Commonwealth graves from the First World War are in the French military section and the Second World War graves can be found in the civilian section of the cemetery.
