The site has plaques commemorating American soldiers from the First Special Service Force (FSSF) who died during the liberation of the town in World War II.

The site is the Port-Cros which is a protected natural area and part of the Port-Cros National Park. Port-Cros Island is accessible only by boat. Ferries depart from the nearby coastal city of Hyères or Le Lavandou, typically from the port areas. The ferry ride takes about an hour. Upon arrival, visitors dock at the main port and can explore on foot. The memorial is located on the left side of the entrance to the port. Our GPS coordinates are approximate and may not be precise.
