Description:

The site served as a prisoner-of-war camp under Nazi Germany during World War II, where Soviet soldiers and other Allied POWs were confined under brutal and often lethal conditions, before being liberated by U.S. forces on April 2, 1945. As of 2025, the site serves as a memorial and documentation center with museum exhibitions, educational programs, and a cemetery of honor, preserving the memory of the POWs who suffered and died there.
