Description:

The site has a British 32-pounder cannon ‘’Long Tom’’, a Revolutionary War-era cannon recovered in 1963, mounted with a plaque commemorating a 1778 raid by John Paul Jones and the crew of the USS Ranger, the only U.S. attack on British soil during the Revolutionary War.

The site is located along a beach on the western side of Whitehaven, about 250 meters west of the main Raid monument, on a walking path around the former Wellington Pit mining site.
