Emmen-Nieuw Dordrecht General Cemetery

Description:

Within the cemetery are six memorials honoring American airmen who were killed in World War II and were first laid to rest here before later being reinterred at the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten or returned to the United States.

Site is located in the General Cemetery on the northern side of village Nieuw Dordrecht, southeast of the town Emmen, Netherlands. Nieuw Dordrecht is about 165 kilometers east-northeast of Amsterdam, near the border crossing between Zwartemeer, Netherlands and Schöninghsdorf, Germany. A Commonwealth War Graves Commission section is on the southwestern corner of the Cemetery.
