Sirmuma - Syracuse Museum of the Sea

On the exterior wall of the museum is a plaque commemorating the sailors and marines of the U.S. Navy’s 3rd Mediterranean Squadron and its flagship, the USS Constitution, who operated from the Port of Syracuse during the First Barbary War.

The Syracuse Museum of the Sea is located about 3 kilometers south of the town center, positioned directly along the harbor front. It stands among a row of 19th-century seaside buildings overlooking the Ionian Sea, close to the historic Porta Marina gate. The museum’s entrance opens straight onto the waterfront promenade.
