Description:

Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) Cemetery holds graves of over 1780 Commonwealth prisoners of war from World War I, and is located alongside a separate site where about 2,000 Russian prisoners were buried. The Cemetery was erected on the site of a prisoner of war camp which held up to 38,000 prisoners from the British Commonwealth, Serbia, Romania, Italy, Belgium, France, and Russia, as well as a few prisoners from USA and Portugal during 1914-1918. Inside the CWGC cemetery are the isolated burials of American soldiers who served in British Commonwealth of Nations forces during World War I.
