The site has two plaques commemorating the liberation of the town by the U.S. 347th Infantry Regiment of the 87th Infantry Division at the end of World War II.

The site is situated about 700 meters southeast of Plauen town hall, at the Auenstraße, Alte Elsterbrücke, and Neustadtplatz intersecton. The site is located at the northern edge of the Old Elster Bridge.
