When William Arthur Hallahan was born in 1923 in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, his father, William, was 25 and his mother, Albertha, was 20. He had two brothers and four sisters. He enlisted in Boston, Massachusetts on April 11, 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Corporal in Company I, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He was Killed in Action on January 3, 1945 during the unit’s capture of Fosse, Belgium and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
