When Emelio Intrieri was born on August 19, 1922, in Luzzi, Cosenza, Italy, his father, Antonio, was 35 and his mother, Maria, was 19. He had two brothers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in Company I, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He was Killed in Action on January 3, 1945 (at the age of 22) and is now buried in Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale, Suffolk County, New York, USA.
