Otis Hoyt King was born on December 8, 1878 in Hudson, St. Croix County, Wisconsin. He was the son of Charles Frederick King and Ella Frances Hoyt King. He was a graduate of Hudson High School in 1900. He was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard called to service with the American Expeditionary Forces in 1917. The record shows he re-enlisted on June 15, 1903, and served until Feb. 28, 1909, as an enlisted man. On Feb. 28, 1909, he was promoted to Second Lieutenant and on Dec. 19, 1915, he made First Lieutenant with Charlie Company. King accepted a commission as Captain, 3rd Infantry, Wisconsin National Guard, on Sept. 2, 1917, and sailed to the war in Europe on Feb. 18, 1918. He was killed in action while serving as Captain in Company A, 16th Infantry of the American Expeditionary Forces. He was 39. He is now buried in Willow River Cemetery, Hudson, St. Croix County, Wisconsin, USA.
