Killed during the liberation of Pont Sainte Maxence.
George Joseph Meyers was the son of George Meyers and Margaret Kelly. He was born (Sept 28, 1915) and raised in Philadelphia. It was reported that he was killed by snipers while leading his platoon in France.
His younger brother Sergeant James Joseph Meyers served with the same unit, the 15th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action on December 18, 1944. These two brothers lay at rest together at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery.
