Born July 8, 1921 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Meehan entered the service on April 1, 1941. After serving in Company B in the United Kingdom, Meehan took command of Company E.
On D-Day his C-47 aircraft was hit by German anti-aircraft fire during the Normandy Invasion. The plane crashed near the town of Saite-Mere-Eglise killing Meehan along with the entire headquarters of Company E that was aboard.
