Caryl Frederick Closner was born on August 7, 1909. He was the son of Fred Closner and Fannie Yoneli Closner. Caryl entered the military service in Minnesota and served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on October 11, 1944 and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium. He also has a cenotaph located in Pine Island Cemetery, Pine Island, Goodhue County, Minnesota, USA.
