Ozell L. Smoot was born on June 2, 1920. He was the son of Leonard J. Smoot and Ethel Mae Smoot. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Captain in the 1st Infantry Division. He died on November 17, 1944 during the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest at the age of 24 and is now buried in Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, USA.
