Obre Oshel Sutphin was born on January 2, 1925 in Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia. He was the son of Hayward Dell Sutphin and Eula Langford Sutphin. Obre served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Corporal in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on November 23, 1944 in Germany at the age of 19 and is now buried in Spencer Memorial Cemetery, Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia, USA.
