William Horace Brantley was born on August 27, 1917. He was the son of Marie Maeburr Kuykendall Moody. William served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Second Lieutenant in Company A, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on September 12, 1944 in Belgium at the age of 27 and is now buried in Oak Dale Cemetery, Spring Hope, Nash County, North Carolina, USA.
