William served as a Private First Class, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Baltimore, Maryland prior to the war. He was Killed in Action on September 26, 1944 and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
