Pvt. Ferrell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ferrell, was one of the first men from Hawkins County to be called into service. He entered the Army in June 1941 as a Private in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division and was killed in Belgium September 13, 1944.
