Louis Joseph Sakal was born on December 23, 1915 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Louis Sakal and Catherine Brendli Sakal. Louis was employed by the Harris-Boyer Company before his induction into the Army on Feb 7, 1944. He went overseas in July 1944. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on December 3, 1944 in Lucehm, Germany and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
