Elmer W. Thrun was born on April 11, 1920. He was the son of William C. Thrun and Clara D. Dopke Thrun. Elmer served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 23, 1944 at the age of 24 and is now buried in Memorial Washington Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery, Elgin, Kane County, Illinois, USA.
