Harold L. Ver Dow was born on July 8, 1918 in New York. He enlisted in the Army on November 14, 1940 in Syracuse, New York. He noted his county of residence at that time as being Onondaga. He was also noted as being employed as a Farm hand and as being Single, without dependents. He resided in Avon, Livingston County, New York prior to the war. Harold served in the 18th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He died in a hospital in France, after serving with the infantry in France and Germany during the invasion of Normandy.
