Maurice L. Lawry was born on March 19, 1915 in Maine. He enlisted in the Army on September 5, 1941, prior to the war, in Portland, Maine. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Fishermen and/or oystermen and also as Single, without dependents. Maurice served as a Private, Company G, 18th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Knox County, Maine prior to the war. He was Killed in Action on December 1, 1944 in Germany at the age of 29 and is now buried in John Carver Cemetery, Vinalhaven, Knox County, Maine, USA.
