"Joseph E. Galbally was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1919. He enlisted in the Army in 1942. His battle experience began on the beaches of Tunis/Algeria, he may have then gone to Sicily, he then landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, and worked his way through France. Joseph served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Sergeant in Company C, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was wounded at the Battle of Aachen (Germany) in early October 1944, and was taken prisoner. He was sent to Stagal IX- A, where he died of his wounds a short time later on November 21, 1944, at age 25. His body was returned to the states. He was buried at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He never married or had children.
