Donald Joseph Hackert was born on October 26, 1925 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. He was the son of Frank F. Hackert and Bertha Baatz Hackert. Donald served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on November 17, 1944 in Homich, Germany at the age of 19 and is now buried in Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, Evergreen Park, Cook County, Illinois, USA.
