Leo Irvin Gulick was born on April 25, 1912 in Clarksville, Butler County, Iowa. He was the son of Herman Gulick and Edna Pearl Redington Thomsen. He entered the military service on March 21, 1944 and arrived overseas September 15th. Prior to entering the service, he was a trucker for the Farmer's Grain & Co-operative Company. Leo served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 28, 1944 in Germany at the age of 32 and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
