Raymond Leroy Long was born on August 3, 1923. He was the son of Daniel A. Long and Elsie Rippeon Long. He enlisted in the Army on February 1, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistement, as being Single, without dependents. Raymond served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army, 1st Infantry Division during World War II. He resided in Carroll County, Maryland prior to the war. He was Killed in Action on September 18, 1944 in Germany at the age of 21 and is now buried in Westminster Cemetery, Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland, USA.
