Frank J. Hanks was born on May 3, 1921. He was the son of Charlie Hanks and Irene Hyler Hanks. Frank served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on September 18, 1944 in Germany at the age of 23 and is now buried in Hanks Cemetery, Pittsylvania County, Virginia, USA.
