When Edwin Alexander Guerard was born on June 24, 1937, in Leesville, South Carolina, his father, Edwin, was 22 and his mother, Martha, was 21. He had four siblings. Edwin committed suicide in Paris and was buried in the American Legion Mausoleum just west of Paris in 1965 at the age of 27.
