George Samuel Sobel was born in 1900 in Philadelphia. He served in the US Army during World War I and World War II and attained the rank of Lt Col. George died in the American Hospital in Neuilly in 1958 at the age of 58 and was buried in the American Legion Mausoleum just west of Paris.
