Witold Izdebsky, a French interpreter, was born in 1918. He was of Russian origin and enlisted in the US Army in New York in 1943. Witold was killed in a car crash in Germany in 1949 and was buried in the American Legion Mausoleum just west of Paris at the age of 31.
