Francis Atherton Saur was born in 1900 in Heilbronn, Germany. He was a naturalized US citizen and served in the US Army during World War II. Francis died in the American Hospital in Neuilly in 1950 at the age of 50 and was buried in the American Legion Mausoleum just west of Paris.
