Philip Stoll was born in 1880 in Alsace, France. He was a naturalized US citizen and served the US Army during World War I. He died in 1929 at the age of 49 in Strasbourg, France and was cremated there. His ashes were interred at the American Legion Mausoleum just west of Paris.
