Gordon L. Amos was born in 1916 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. He was the son of Thomas Leslie Amos and Ellen Loretta Orr Amos. He was a B-17 navigator during WWII, assigned to 388th Bomb Group 563rd Bomb Squadron. Gordon was killed in action on July 26, 1943, flying aboard 42-30208 in Regensburg, Stadtkreis Regensburg, Bavaria (Bayern), Germany. He is now buried in the Williams Creek Cemetery, Williams Creek, Marion County, Indiana, USA. 2Lt Amos was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
