Elmer C. Barsig was born on April 18, 1908 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He served in the 561st Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He was one of seven Army airmen killed in the crash of B-17F Flying Fortress #42-29562, two miles southeast of Soda Springs, in Caribou County, Idaho. Elmer is now buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA.
