Elden Dean Bennion was born on October 3, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah. He was graduated from South high school and attended the University of Utah prior to entering the Air Corps in March, 1943. He was affiliated with Lamba Delta Sigma fraternity. Elden was employed at a Salt Lake newpaper and was secretary to the general manager at Union Pacific Railroad Co. After receiving training in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma, he was sent overseas in July, 1944. He was Killed in Action on December 31, 1944 at the age of 22 in Hamburg, Germany and is now buried in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Millcreek, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA. Elden was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
