John Ezra Brown, Jr. was born on October 12, 1924. He was the Radio Operator/Airgunner on B17G 44-6622 "Our Love" 388th Bomb Group who crashed on February 16, 1945 at Hamm Germany. He is now buried in the Netherlands American Cemetery , Margraten, Netherlands. He also has a cenotaph located in Hebron Cemetery and Mausoleums, Brooks, Bullitt County, Kentucky, USA. Sgt Brown was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.

Other information:
Their aircraft was hit by flak over the target. The oxygen system and the flares in the cockpit caught on fire and the number 2 and number 3 engines were on fire. The bail-out order was given and the radio operator and tail gunner bailed out over Hamm. The a/c dove from 22,000 to 14,000 ft before coming out. From then on the pilot had control of the aircraft and brought it back to the base.
